Introduction

Welcome to Halo Staffing Care Certificate Standards: Standard 3 – Duty of care.

At the beginning of this course, we will explore the principles of duty of care and duty of candour, helping you understand their importance and how they influence your role in delivering safe, effective, and professional care and support.

We will then examine how to respond appropriately to dilemmas that may arise between duty of care and an individual’s rights, as well as how to deal with comments and complaints in line with legislation and agreed ways of working. You will also learn how to recognise, report, and learn from incidents, errors, adverse events, and near misses.

Finally, we will look at how effective communication can help prevent and manage conflict, and how to deal with difficult or confrontational situations safely and professionally. You will also learn where to access support and advice and how to follow reporting procedures when workplace concerns arise.
