Oliver McGowan Training
Oliver’s campaign was created after the preventable death of Oliver McGowan. Oliver’s mother, Paula McGowen launched a petition asking for Health and Social Care staff in England to receive Learning Disability and Autism Awareness mandatory training. In 2022 this training became a legal requirement for all CQC registers.
An easier way to manage your training.
Each section of our Oliver McGowan training is designed to allow you to improve the quality of care individuals with learning disabilities and autistic people receive. Our Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is the government’s preferred and recommended training for health and social care staff.
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is is delivered in two tiers. You will either take Tier 1 or Tier 2 depending on your role. Alternatively, you can learn to become a trainer yourself and help change the health and social care sector for the better, with us.

What are digital badges?
In addition to a certificate, on successful completion of a course you will receive a digital badge.
Digital Badges are used to show accomplishment. Once one of the members in your group have completed a course they will be rewarded with a digital badge and a certificate.
We have created our digital badges in line with the Open Badge Framework so that our badges are verifiable, portable, and packed with information about skills and achievements. Using digital badges a learners accomplishment can be easily verified and shared with prospective employers, managers and training departments.
Once a learner has completed a course, they will be rewarded a digital badge.
Our digital badges are issued through Badgr, whose platform allows learners to store and manage their digital badges. Badgr allows learners to collect and share their digital credentials so that the skills they learn from our training can be easily validated, reducing the need to redo training already completed.
By providing our training courses to your staff you will be offering them a wide range of topics that provide all the essential skills and knowledge needed for care careers, including the Care Certificate, mandatory and specialisation training.
Once your team has completed the training, they can easily access the digital badges they have been rewarded by opening their digital Badgr Backpack.
