DBS Update Service

DBS Update Service

DBS checks are fundamental in keeping people safe and ensuring the right people have contact with children and adults within health and social care. However you can never be certain of how long a DBS application will take to be completed which can impact on potential start dates.

An easy way to make sure you always have access to an updated version of your DBS is through the government DBS Update Service. This service will allow you to keep your DBS up to date, with a yearly cost of £13.

Applying to the service:

To apply you will have to register within 30 days of the DBS certificate being issued, this can be either a standard or enhanced one. All you need is your certificate number.

How to sign in?

Once registered for this service you will be able to sign in here: DBS CRSC (crbonline.gov.uk) All you need is your service ID and Date of Birth.

Once signed in you will be able to give employers permission to check your DBS and see any changes. When an employer does this you will then be able to see if they have viewed it or not. You’ll also be able to add or remove a certificate if needed. You can access this service at any time.

Renewing the subscription:

As this is a yearly subscription you will have the option to turn on automatic renewal or renew it manually every 30 days. However, you will not be able to do this on the last day. If you miss the renewal time you will have to apply for a new check and register to the service again.
