Raising Safety Concerns at Work

Raising Safety Concerns at Work

Keeping people safe is the most important part of care work. If something doesn’t feel right, it’s important to speak up. You do not need to wait until something goes wrong. Raising concerns early helps everyone.

Here are some simple steps:

  • Notice what’s unsafe – it could be equipment, medication or how a task is done
  • Tell someone you trust – this could be your manager, senior staff or team leader
  • Explain clearly – describe what the problem is and why it could be unsafe
  • Follow up – check that action has been taken or ask for updates if needed
  • Document if needed – some workplaces like you to write down concerns for records

Remember, raising concerns is part of doing your job well. Good employers want to know when things could be safer.
