Description: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Specialist Support Professional – Deaf (SSP-D) to join our team nationwide. As a Specialist Support Professional, you will play a crucial role in supporting deaf students to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Assess the communication and support needs of Deaf individuals and develop personalized support plans.
  • Provide one-to-one assistance, including British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation and communication support.
  • Offer guidance on accessing services, information, and adaptive technology that promotes independence.
  • Work with students and families to develop effective communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as healthcare workers, educational staff, and therapists, to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Maintain a flexible approach to working hours to meet individual needs.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • At least one deaf-related postgraduate qualification OR any postgraduate qualification plus deaf-related specialist qualification.
  • Experience working with Deaf individuals or those with hearing impairments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A passion for making a positive difference in the lives of Deaf individuals.
