Job Title: Speech-to-Text Reporter (STTR)

Location: University of Salford

Job Type: Flexible Hours / Self-Employed

 

Description: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Speech to Text Reporter. This role involves providing live on-site support to a partially deaf student, who requires STTR support during their lectures and seminars. This role offers the flexibility to work approximately 3 hours per day, up to 3 days per week.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Real-time Transcription: Accurately transcribe spoken language in real-time using specialized software and equipment.
  • Flexibility: Adapt to various classroom settings, including lectures, seminars, and group discussions.
  • Closed Captioning Support: Provide closed captioning during breakout sessions.

 

Membership Requirements:

One of the following qualifications is required for this role:

  • National Registers of Communication Professionals Working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD) Registered Speech to Text Reporter
  • Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf People (CACDP) Level 3 Certificate for Language Service Professionals (LSPs) working with Deaf and Deafblind People (Speech to Text Reporting)

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Speech-to-Text Reporter.
  • Proficiency in using speech-to-text software and equipment.
  • Excellent typing skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
