During the winter months more care is required when driving. Before you start your journey make sure you check the following with Halo Staffing’s winter checklist:
1️⃣Always drive at an appropriate speed, in snow or icy conditions it will take longer to stop.
2️⃣Always check your vehicle is well maintained and serviced.
3️⃣Always keep your lights, mirrors, and windows free from ice and snow.
4️⃣Always check local travel updates.
5️⃣Always pack winter essentials such as, an ice scraper, gloves, hat, a torch, bottle of water and a first aid kit.
6️⃣Always check that tyres are maintained at the correct pressure.
7️⃣Always tell someone your destination and time you are planning on arriving.
8️⃣Always make sure your phone fully charged.
9️⃣Always stay far enough back from the vehicle in front as stopping distances can be ten times greater than on dry roads.
🔟Always drive slowly on bends in icy conditions. When driving in the snow make sure you use the highest gear possible to avoid wheel spin and when braking in snow or ice, get into a low gear and allow your speed to fall and use the brake pedal gently.
