Introduction

Welcome to the Halo Staffing eLearning course on Standard 13 – Health and Safety of the Care Certificate. Within this course, we will take you through all of the health and safety procedures relevant to your role, in order to help keep yourself and others safe within your work place, helping you to create a safe working environment.

To start, we will cover your own responsibilities and the responsibilities of others relating to health and social care, including how to carry out a risk assessment. We will also cover areas of basic life support, including when you are qualified to use it, and when to carry out a primary survey to assess what aid a casualty might need.

Moving on from this, we’ll touch on fire safety, how fires are caused and how you can prevent them. This will be followed by a section which will inform you about the symptoms, causes and treatment of Legionnaires’ disease. Finally, we will look at how to maintain your well-being and stress management.
