Description

Welcome to the Halo Staffing eLearning course on Standard 13 – Health and Safety of the Care Certificate. Within this course, we will take you through all of the health and safety procedures relevant to your role, in order to help keep yourself and others safe within your work place, helping you to create a safe working environment.

To start, we will cover your own responsibilities and the responsibilities of others relating to health and social care, including how to carry out a risk assessment. We will also cover areas of basic life support, including when you are qualified to use it, and when to carry out a primary survey to assess what aid a casualty might need.

Moving on from this, we’ll touch on fire safety, how fires are caused and how you can prevent them. Finally, we will look at how to maintain your well-being and stress management.

Is this for me? 

This course has been carefully designed for carers, support workers, nurses and managers who want to learn more about Standard 13 of the Care Certificate – Health and Safety. Completing this course will ensure that you are fully up to date with relevant content to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in your field. On successful completion of this course, you will be issued with a certificate and digital badge valid for 1 year.

You should take this course if it’s necessary for you or your team to know how to keep yourself and others safe within the work place and how to maintain a safe environment. Keeping in line with Skills for Care and the key legislation such as the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, Manual Handling Operations Regulation 1992, Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) 2002, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 2002, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) 2013.

This course will provide you and/or your team with an understanding of how to complete a risk assessment, what to do in the events of a fire, how to respond to accidents and sudden illness, how to carry out a primary survey, who to contact to report health and safety issues and what the types of legislation relating to health and safety are.
