Healthcare Funding

Healthcare Funding

Further funding is desperately needed in the healthcare industry.

The need for further healthcare funding has been highlighted by the reports that came from the last few years showing the devastating effects that COVID-19 has brought on the UK. In 2020 alone nearly 25,000 people in care homes died of COVID-19 and a further number of deaths from those receiving care at home and care staff in England.

From data like this it proves that government's all around the world had responses to the initial COVID-19 wave that were just too slow and could not support any one in the healthcare industry or those receiving care. There is still very little change in the amount of stability that those in the industry feel, with an on-going lack of awareness from the government and many people around the world.

As reported on by The Health Foundation and said by Hugh Alderwick, Head of Policy at the Health Foundation,

"The social care system that entered the pandemic was a threadbare safety-net, scarred by decades of political neglect and underfunding. COVID-19 has made some longstanding problems in the sector worse – and services are under extreme pressure as we head into winter. Many people go without the care they need."

Even though there are set plans in place, they do not help the problems that the healthcare industry faces now. Most of the funding won't even be enough to cover the staff shortages which is one of the main difficulties that is facing the healthcare industry today, adding endless amounts of pressure that isn't being solved. It leaves many who are working in care and being cared for to feel isolated and forgotten.
