How to Create a Professional CV

Looking for a job in care? Whether you’re new to the health and social care sector or have years of experience, your CV is your chance to show what you can do and why you’d be a great addition to a care team.

A good CV is clear, honest and shows your strengths.

What to Include in Your CV:

  • Your name and contact details (email and phone number)
  • A short personal statement – just 2 or 3 lines about who you are and what kind of work you’re looking for
  • Your work experience – start with your most recent job. Even if it’s not in care, it still shows skills
  • Training and certificates – for example: Moving and Handling, First Aid, or your Care Certificate
  • Languages spoken – always good to include in diverse care settings!
  • Any other experiences – looking after family, volunteering or customer service work

Keep it Simple:

  • Use a plain, easy-to-read font
  • Avoid pictures
  • Keep it to 1 or 2 pages
  • Save and send as a PDF (if you can)
