• Prerequisite for this course is the Advanced Medication Management (Face to Face) course. Aim: To confidently complete competency assessments and provide constructive feedback sensitively and supportively. Objectives: By successfully completing this course you will be able to:

    • Understand what a competency assessment template or checklist is
    • Explain how to conduct competency assessments

    • Describe the strategies and tools required for open and supported discussions
    • Understand how to encourage Two-Way Communication
    • How to provide effective feedback
    • Understand how to deal with conflicts in supervision
    • Describe what is positive reinforcement and how to use it
    • Confidently demonstrate a competency assessment

  • Aim: To develop a clear understanding of your obligations with regards to the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone Objectives:  By successfully completing this course you will be able to: 
    • Understand your own responsibilities, and the responsibilities of others with regards to health and safety
    • Understand and know how to promote fire safety
    • List all the relevant legislation in the UK
    • Be able to comply with risk assessments provided by your IE
    • Understand procedures for responding to accidents and sudden illness and providing basic life support to the person you support
    • Understand any medication and healthcare tasks that the person you support requires
    • Understand how to safely handle any domestic hazardous substances
    • Understand the need to work safely and securely, putting neither yourself nor the person you support at undue risk

  • Aim: To understand and know how to promote fire safety in the workplace Objectives:  By successfully completing this course you will be able to: 
    • Establish the basics of this subject
    • Describe the fire hazards in a typical work setting
    • Understand who is responsible for fire safety in the workplace
    • Describe the fire safety regulations in England and Wales
    • List the type and use of fire safety equipment found in the work setting
    • Describe the fire risk assessment procedure in a care premises
    • Understand what you need to do when you detect a fire in the workplace
    • Understand the importance of fire safety and evacuation plans
    • Understand the implications of ignoring the fire safety guidelines
    • Describe the importance of fire safety training in the workplace
