• Aim: To protect people and keep them safe from harm and abuse. Objectives: By successfully completing this course you will be able to:
    • Recognise the 6 key principles of safeguarding adults
    • Describe what harm and abuse is
    • Recognise 10 forms of abuse
    • List 5 things you can do to help prevent abuse
    • List 3 people or points of contact you can report abuse to in order to stop it from happening
    • Identify when it is appropriate to use a restrictive practise
    • List 3 things that promote dignity and respect, and to be able to state why they are important

  • Aim: To teach you the basics of what you need to do to safeguard children that you encounter. Objectives: By successfully completing this course you will be able to:
    • Describe what harm and abuse is
    • List at least 7 types of abuse that a child could suffer
    • List at least 4 signs of abuse
    • Describe who to contact should you be aware of child abuse
    • Identify at least 3 pieces of legislation in relation to protecting and safeguarding children
