Welcome to Halo Staffing Care Certificate Standards: Standard 10 – Adult safeguarding.
You will explore how dignity, respect, rights and wellbeing can be promoted through safe and effective care practices. We will explain why some individuals may be more vulnerable to abuse and how person-centred care, active participation and partnership working can help reduce the likelihood of harm.
We will show you how to support individuals to make informed choices, manage risks appropriately and keep themselves safe while maintaining their independence. You will also learn about local safeguarding arrangements and the importance of working effectively with other professionals and agencies.
Finally, we will explain how you should respond to suspected or disclosed abuse, including how to report concerns in line with organisational procedures. You will also learn about relevant safeguarding legislation, information-sharing responsibilities and the actions you should take if you encounter barriers when raising safeguarding concerns.

This course has been carefully designed for carers, support workers, nurses, and managers who wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of Care Certificate Standard 10 – Adult safeguarding, aligned with the March 2025 update from the Department of Health and Social Care. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded a certificate, which will be valid for 1 year.

What will I learn?
This course will provide you and/or your team with a comprehensive understanding of adult safeguarding within health and social care settings. We will begin the course by explaining the principles and purpose of adult safeguarding, what is meant by an adult at risk, and the responsibilities of care workers in protecting individuals from abuse, neglect and harm. We will then explore the different types and indicators of abuse, restrictive practices, technology-related safeguarding risks, and the importance of promoting dignity, respect, rights and wellbeing. The course will also cover person-centred approaches, risk enablement, multi-agency working, safeguarding legislation, information sharing requirements, and how to respond appropriately to suspected or disclosed abuse. In addition, learners will develop the knowledge and confidence to support individuals to make informed choices, reduce the likelihood of harm, and follow safeguarding policies and procedures to help create safe, supportive and person-centred care environments.
