By successfully completing this blended course you will be able to:

  • Describe the legislation governing first aid at work
  • Explain the 2 priorities of first aid at work
  • Explain what is meant by adequate and appropriate first aid arrangements
  • Describe the difference between an appointed person and a first aider
  • Explain and demonstrate how to administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles, ligaments, joints and injuries to the spine
  • Explain and demonstrate how to administer first aid to a casualty with chest injuries
  • Explain and demonstrate how to provide first aid for burns and scalds, eye injuries, poisoning, and anaphylactic shock
  • Recognise the presence of major work-related illnesses
  • Explain and demonstrate how to provide first aid for heart attack, stroke, epileptic seizures, asthma attack and diabetic emergencies
  • Explain what must be reported under RIDDOR

Course Duration:

Face-2-Face session will be delivered at your location for up to 12 attendees. Cost of this course is for all 12 attendees.

Online learning: 2 hours.

Face-2-Face practical session:  8 hours.

To complete the First Aid at Work (FAW) blended course you need to first complete the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) blended course.

Total training including the EFAW is equivalent to a 3 day course.

Description

Welcome to the Halo Staffing blended course on first aid at work (FAW). This course has been designed according to the guidelines of Resuscitation council UK, Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Health and Safety First Aid Regulations and the requirements of Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR).

A prerequisite to this course is the Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) blended course.

In addition to the eLearning material, you must also attend the face-to-face session of this course to achieve a fully qualified first aider at work status.

We begin this course with a discussion about the importance of first aid at work

We will then inform you about the relevant legislation.

The next section will talk about the 2 priorities of first aid at work.

We will then explain what is meant by adequate and appropriate first aid arrangements.

We then describe the difference between an appointed person and a first aider.

From there, we move on to teaching you how to administer first aid to a casualty with casualty with injuries to bones, muscles, ligaments, joints and injuries to the spine.

We will then explain and demonstrate how to administer first aid to a casualty with chest injuries.

The next section will explain how to provide first aid for burns and scalds, eye injuries, poisoning, and anaphylactic shock.

We will then inform you how to recognise the presence of major work-related illnesses.

This will be followed by information about providing appropriate first aid for heart attack, stroke, epileptic seizures, asthma and diabetic emergencies.

We conclude this course with a discussion of what must be reported under RIDDOR.

What will I learn?
