Description

Welcome to the Halo Staffing eLearning course for Standard 5 – Working in a Person-Centred Way of the Care Certificate. In this course we will take you through everything you’ll need to know in order to be able to work in a person-centred way.

The first section will cover understanding person-centred values, what they are, why they are relevant, and the benefits of using them.

Following that will be understanding how to work in a person-centred way, how to work out and compensate for the ways an individual is unique, how to keep track of the changing needs of an individual, and what the end-of-life care needs of an individual might be.

The third section will cover the environment of an individual, how to identify and remove problems from it, and how and when to report concerns about it.

After that, we’ll cover how to make others aware of any potentially disruptive actions they are taking, and how to raise concerns with those affected.

From there, we’ll talk about individuals in pain and discomfort, how to deal with problems around restricted mobility, how to recognise signs, both verbal and nonverbal, of pain and discomfort, what actions you should take, and how to remove environmental factors causing problems.

The sixth section will contain information on helping someone to retain their identity and self-esteem, how they link to emotional and spiritual wellbeing, how your own actions contribute to this, how to support and encourage these, and where and when you should report concerns.

Finally, we’ll touch on using person-centred values to support an individual, and how to act to demonstrate these.
