Description

Welcome to the Halo Staffing eLearning course for Standard 8 – Fluids and Nutrition of the Care Certificate. In this course, we’ll go through everything you’ll need to know in order to make sure that any individual you care for had good nutrition and hydration.

The first section will cover the principles involved in hydration and nutrition, involving food safety, food hygiene, the importance of nutrition and hydration, how to spot poor nutrition and hydration, and how to promote good nutrition and hydration.

Following that will be helping an individual remain properly hydrated, ensuring they have access to fluids, that their fluids are refreshed, that the fluids they are offered are in accordance with their care plan, how to support them to hydrate in line with their care plan, and who to report any concerns to.

Finally, what will be covered will be helping an individual consume proper nutrition, ensuring they have access to nutritional products, that their nutritional products are of an appropriate temperature and are offered are in accordance with their care plan, that all appropriate utensils and tools needed are supplied to allow an individual to meet these needs in the most independent way, how to support them to consume proper nutrition in line with their care plan, and who to report any concerns to.

This course has been carefully designed for carers, support workers, nurses and managers who want to learn more about Standard 8 of the Care Certificate – Fluids and Nutrition. Completing this course will ensure that you are fully up to date with relevant content to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in your field. On successful completion of this course, you will be issued with a certificate and digital badge valid for 1 year.
