Welcome to the Halo Staffing eLearning course for Standard 10 – Safeguarding Adults, of the Care Certificate. In this course we will be taking you through everything you’ll need to know to be able to effectively safeguard adults and help prevent abuse in your new job.
We will start off covering the main principles of safeguarding adults, involving what harm is, what kinds of abuse exist, and what the signs of abuse are.
From there we’ll move into how you can reduce the likelihood of abuse, what individualised care is and why it matters, and how to best manage and enable risk.
After that, we’ll cover what you need to do when you suspect abuse is happening, from an ethical, professional, and legal standpoint.
Finally, we’ll cover some of the relevant legislation, and let you know what you can do to help stop abuse from happening.

This course has been carefully designed for carers, support workers, nurses and managers who want to learn more about Standard 10 – Safeguarding Adults. Completing this course will ensure that you are fully up to date with relevant content to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in your field. On successful completion of this course, you will be issued with a certificate and digital badge valid for 1 year.

You should take this course if it’s necessary for you or your team to keep and protect people from harm and abuse and if it’s important for you to understand the 6 key principles of understanding safeguarding adults. Keeping in line with Skills for Care and the key legislation such as the Human Rights Act 1998, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Equality Act 2010, Care Act 2014 and General Data Protection Regulation 2016.
What will I learn?Â
This course will provide you and/or your team with an understanding of the different types of abuse, the indicators of neglect, the role of safeguarding, the relevant procedures and how to identify and respond to concerns, including the whistleblowing process. You will also learn how to protect yourself and others when working with adults.Â
