Description

Welcome to the Halo Staffing eLearning course for Standard 6 – Communication of the Care Certificate. In this course we will take you through everything you’ll need to know in order to be able to communicate effectively with individuals.

The first section will cover the importance of effective communication, the different ways people can communicate, and how communication effects working relationships.

Following that will be understanding the different language and communication needs of an individual, how to recognise them, and the different communication styles you may need to use.

The third section covers boundaries to effective communication, what they might be, how to recognise them, how to reduce them, how to check to ensure you have been understood, and where to find support on helping you to communicate more effectively.

After that, the principles and practices regarding confidentiality will be covered, including what confidentiality means in relation to your role, the legislation that regards maintaining confidentiality in your day-to-day work, situations where normally confidential information may need to be passed on, and who you should ask for advice and support regarding confidentiality.

From there, the appropriate use of communication will be touched on, covering both verbal and non-verbal communication.

Finally, the use of appropriate communication aids and technologies will be covered, how to ensure they are clean and in good working order, and who and how to report concerns about them to.

Is this for me? 

This course has been carefully designed for carers, support workers, nurses and managers who want to learn more about standard 6 of the care certificate, communication. Completing this course will ensure that you are fully up to date with relevant content to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in your field. On successful completion of this course, you will be issued with a certificate and digital badge valid for 1 year.
