Description
Welcome to the Halo Staffing eLearning course for Standard 9 – Awareness of Mental Health, Dementia, and Learning Disability of the Care Certificate. In this course we’ll go through everything you’ll need to know in order to be able to help people with issues involving mental health, dementia, or learning difficulties.
The first section will cover identifying the feelings that someone may have if they have a mental health condition, dementia, or a learning disability, how those conditions may influence their needs, and how the causes and support needs may differ between people.
Following that will be covering how a positive attitude towards people improves the care they receive, and the social model of disability.
The third section will be on adjustments someone may need to their care, and concerns from unmet needs, with regards to these mental conditions.
After that, the importance of early detection of mental health needs will be covered, along with what adjustments to care may need to be made when a mental health need is identified.
From there, the main legislation regarding promoting the rights of individuals with mental health needs, and how that legislation affects the day-to-day actions they may take will be covered.
Finally, mental capacity will be covered, including what it is, why the default is assuming someone has it, what consent is, and when you may need to make an assessment of mental capacity.
