Description

Welcome to the Halo Staffing Face-to-Face course on leadership support.

We will begin this course with establishing some basics. First, we will define the term leadership. We will explore the qualities of a leader.  We will then inform you about this role in the health and social care sector.

The next section will inform you about the various leadership styles and how to apply them based on the situation.

After that we will inform you about the strength-based approach suggested by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and we will explore the importance of being visible and approachable as a leader.

At this point we  list out all the relevant legislations in the UK along with the CQC regulations.

Having done that, we then inform you how to effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities.

Next, we will describe how staff can understand what the vision, values and strategies of your service are, and how they can achieve them in their role.

We will then explain how to effectively manage resources and identify the appropriate type and level of resources required to deliver safe and effective service.

How to identify and address poor or variable staff performance, will be the theme of the next section.

We will then focus on how to identify the strengths, interests, and developmental needs of staff member, setting SMART goals for staff development.

The next section will inform you about effective feedback, here we will inform you about how to develop skills in providing constructive feedback during supervision sessions, how to respond to feedback in a professional manner and also using this to support your team in their development journey.

We will then discuss about effective communication and interpersonal skills required to support and motivate everyone in your team. This will lead to the concepts of active listening, empathetic communication and problem solving including how to practice them during supervisory interactions.

The next section will focus on the wellbeing of the leaders themselves and of the staff they lead. We will also inform you how a leader should manage the impact of their emotions and behaviours.

At this point we will explain to you the need to maintain strong relationships with the all the stakeholders, including how best to work in collaboration with others.

The next section will inform you about conflict management.

The following section will discuss about critical thinking and ethical decision making.

After this, we will inform you about the importance of managing comments and complaints effectively.

Finally, we will inform you importance of continuous service improvement and how to encourage it.

You and/or your team will also be able to understand the need of an effective and constructive feedback, how to respond to feedback in a professional manner, the concepts of effective communication, interpersonal skills, active listening, empathetic communication, problem solving including how to practice them during supervisory interactions.
