Welcome to the Halo Staffing Face-to-Face course about competency assessment.

We will begin this course with an explanation of the purpose and functions of assessing competency.

We will then move on to describing the benefits of assessing competency.

The next section will explain how you can prepare for a competency assessment.

Here we will also explain what a competency assessment template or checklist is.

The next section will inform you how to conduct competency assessments.

This will be followed by a section which will talk about how to document the competency assessment and what should be included in it.

From there we will move on to describing how to coach staff through supportive conversations.

Strategies and tools required for open and supported discussions will be the theme of the next section.

We will then explain to you how to encourage Two-Way Communication.

The next section will inform you about the importance of providing effective feedback.

You will then be able to understand how to deal with conflicts in supervision.

Positive reinforcement and how to use it will be discussed in the next section.

Finally, we will inform you how to demonstrate competency assessment effectively.
