Welcome to the Halo Staffing eLearning course for Disability Equality Awareness. In this course we’ll cover the basics of what you need to know in order to be able to begin treating disabled individuals appropriately. Â
The first section will cover what a disability is, and the number of disabled individuals in the United Kingdom.Â
From there, we’ll look at the Equality Act 2010, along with direct and indirect discrimination.Â
After that, the concept of visible versus invisible disabilities will be touched on. Â
The fourth section will cover the difference between equality and equity.Â
Following on from that, we’ll look at the social model of disability. Â
The next section will cover potential types of assistance that can be given to disabled individuals.Â
The section after that will look at some of the basics of etiquette when interacting with disabled individuals. Â
Finally, we’ll briefly look at the Disability Confidence Framework. Â
